Go backstage, to the balcony, and to the former ballroom of Leadville’s historic Tabor Opera House!
On these special tours, you can peer into the trap door cut for Houdini, see the marble-backed switchboard that brought up the lights on Oscar Wilde and Anna Held, and learn more about the history of this splendid theater, built in a mere 100 days by silver mining magnate Horace Tabor.
In keeping with the vision to revive the opera house as a community hub, local high school drama students in Victorian dress will serve as interpreters for interactive tours, with scripts in the voices of Leadville historical characters written by Colorado historical fiction author Donna Baier Stein.
