What would it be like to work in a mine, blasting rock in narrow passageways deep underground? Find out at the National Mining Hall of Fame & Museum, where you can tour replicas of mines and crystal caves, check out the equipment miners wear to breathe, and see photos of the people who've worked in American mines over the decades. Then explore what mining produces, from gems and precious metals to the minerals you use in everyday life.

Special Exhibits and Events:

Onsite: Men of Mining: Photographs by Laszlo Bencze
Open now through Sunday, July 2, 2017
Award-winning photographer Laszlo Bencze presents striking and unexpected images that show modern miners on the job. “Finding people in the modern mine environment is not so easy,” Bencze said. “The image imprinted on so many people’s minds is of gold rush days when miners carried picks and shovels. Those days are long gone. Modern miners sit in the cabs of haul trucks, shovels, and bulldozers. Some inhabit control rooms surrounded by video screens which they manipulate with keyboards and computer mice.” This collection captures today's reality.
