        Lake County Pride QR CodeBe sure to join us for the first-ever and 1st Annual Lake County Pride event! The celebration kicks off with a Pride Parade on Harrison Avenue, Leadville’s main street. It starts at the free parking lot at 3rd and Harrison streets at 4 p.m. and leads to FREIGHT.

        The Red Shed bandstand at FREIGHT is the stage for an amazing drag show at 6 p.m., followed by a dance party until 11 p.m. All events are free.

        These events are dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ communities, and aims to promote acceptance, equality, and raise awareness of issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community. / Este evento está dedicado a celebrar las comunidades LGBTQ+ y tiene como objetivo promover la aceptación, la igualdad y crear conciencia sobre los problemas que afectan a la comunidad LGBTQ+.

        Lake County Pride is a community-wide effort from Cloud City Conservation Center (C4), Cloud City High School, Colorado State University ExtensionFull Circle of Lake County, Lake County Build a Generation, Lake County Public Library, the Tabor Opera House Preservation Foundation, and local residents.

        But that’s not all! On other dates in June, you are also cordially invited to a night of storytelling, trivia, and a special wildflower hike.

        The Yak Storytelling on Pride

        Friday, June 2, 2023
        7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
        FREIGHT, 320 E. 9th St.
        $10

        Each month, FREIGHT hosts “The Yak” storytelling event with winners, speed, laughter, and vulnerability—and the June theme is pride!

        Two brave storytellers will headline by spending 15 minutes on stage regaling the audience with their true lived story on pride. After the featured stories, audience members can join a speed round of short five-minute stories. Throw your name in the hat for a chance to compete. Audience members will vote for a winner, who will receive two free drinks and one-quarter of the door proceeds.

        The bar opens at 6 p.m., and stories begin at 7 p.m. The cover is $10.

        Pride on the Divide (Wildflower Timberline Lake Hike – Caminata por el lago Wildflower Timberline)

        Hikers of all experience levels and identities are invited to marvel at nature’s rainbow of wildflowers on this free hike!

        Join the Continental Divide Trail Coalition and local Leadville ambassadors for a community wildflower hike in honor of Pride Month. We’ll trek to Timberline Lake on the Continental Divide Trail. The hike to the lake is uphill, 4.3 miles round-trip, and very scenic. Snacks will be provided. Plan for a warm day, and bring plenty of water and sunscreen.

        We will meet at the Get Outdoors Leadville! gear library on the Colorado Mountain College campus (901 US-24) at 10 a.m. and carpool to the Timberline Lake Trailhead (a 25 minute drive). We’ll start hiking by 11 a.m.
