Leadville Loppet

Calling all Nordic skiers—the 15th Annual Leadville Loppet is on the way, and for the first time ever it’s an American Birkebeiner qualifier! This year also marks the first-ever Summit to Lake Nordic Ski Challenge.

Join us Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, for a fun family ski race high in the Rockies that ends with our world-famous blueberry soup. The Loppet runs along—and is a fundraiser for—Leadville’s famous Mineral Belt Trail, which offers spectacular views of surrounding peaks and the area’s mining history. http://www.mineralbelttrail.com/

        Qualify for the Birke

Thanks to last year’s wildly successful race, the Leadville Loppet is now on the list of 2018 American Birkebeiner qualifiers! You can use your results from either the 22 or 44 km race to improve your wave placement for the Birkie or Korte. Check out the Birkie website for more details.

Ski the Inaugural Summit to Lake Challenge

Be among the first to complete the Summit to Lake Nordic Ski Challenge, a partnership between the Leadville Loppet and Frisco’s Gold Rush ski race, held Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018.

Finish one of these race combos, and you’ll win this special challenge award:
        • Frisco Gold Rush 10K (Feb. 3) AND Leadville Loppet 10K (Feb. 17) OR
        • Frisco Gold Rush 20K (Feb. 3) AND Leadville Loppet 22K (Feb. 17)

Racers who complete the challenge and have the fastest combined time in their age group division will also receive free entry into both the 2019 Leadville Loppet and 2019 Gold Rush.

        Loppet Races

The Leadville Loppet is open to freestyle (skate) and classic skiing in the 10k, 22k, and 44k distances.

Looking for something more relaxed? Come with your family and friends for our popular 5K Costume Party Fun Race/Tour. Or bring the little ones for the 1K Kids Fun Race. It’s free, and all participants win a lollipop.

All races will start and finish at the base of Dutch Henry Hill, at McWethy and U.S. Highway 24 near Colorado Mountain College.

        Goodies You’ll Get

You won’t go hungry at the Leadville Loppet. Aid stations on course are stocked with water, sports drinks, high energy fruit, and snacks. The after party opens at noon with homemade soups, chili, and assorted goodies donated by community members.

Plus, the top three finishers in each category will receive an award.
