Leadville Ski Joring and Crystal Carnival Weekend
March 4-6, 2022
Cost: Free for Leadville Ski Joring; registration for some additional events
Cheer horses and skiers at a Leadville signature event! Ski joring experts pack the main street with snow and build ski jumps, for teams of horses and riders to pull skiers over at speeds of up to 35 mph. This breathtaking event is celebrating its 74th year. See what the New York Times had to say about this thrilling event in “The Wild West, On Skis.”
The weekend schedule is also full of winter events—a nighttime winter mountain bike ride, Nordic ski sprints on Harrison Avenue, a paintball biathlon, and much more. See the weekend’s schedule, and giddy up to Leadville!

Join one or all of these fatbike rides on groomed trails in and near Leadville! Check out night rides through the forest and daytime events with stunning above-treeline views. Either way, you’ll have memories to treasure. Your participation will also help fund local mountain bike trails, so thank you!

Enjoy fun, timed races and help raise funds for Leadville’s iconic Mineral Belt Trail, which is groomed all winter long. Choose from 10K, 22K, and 44K distances. Or enter the 5K fun run, and wear a costume! Ski through evergreen forests and past original silver mining equipment from the 1880s. Take in majestic views of the surrounding peaks.

Celebrate spring at the third annual 24-hour cross-country ski. Ski as much as you like from 10 a.m. to 10 a.m. Take a break in our clubhouse next to the fire and freshen up your equipment with our wax bench and tools.
Colorado’s highest peaks surround this mostly flat course in the Arkansas River valley. Revel in the best views under the sun and the almost-full moon!
