NIC STONE TALKS HER CHALLENGED BOOK, DEAR MARTIN, WITH LAKE COUNTY
With a collaborative effort from individuals and organizations, Lake County Co. Public Library brings #1 NY Times bestselling author, Nic Stone, and speaker, Jamie LaRue, to Leadville, Colorado Wednesday, September 28th to celebrate Banned Books Week. This free event will take place at FREIGHT and include discussions on intellectual freedom, the author’s work and vulnerable communities, starting at 6:30pm.
Banned Books Week is a celebration of intellectual freedom that spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. After a historic year of 1,597 book challenges around the U.S. (“State of America’s Libraries Report 2022”, American Library Association), it is important now, more than ever, to celebrate voices that have been under attack.
