Leadville History Month
April 1, 2018 - April 30, 2018

April is Leadville History Month, following an official proclamation by the Colorado General Assembly. This celebration marks the month that Abe Lee discovered gold in California Gulch, just south of town, kicking off the gold rush that brought Leadville its first riches. There are plenty of ways to celebrate history in Leadville and Twin Lakes!
Join us to tour the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum, open throughout April. Stroll our 70-block National Historic Landmark District. Tour the East Side Mining District and Mineral Belt Trail by cross-country ski, snowshoe, or fat bike, or visit the historic Leadville National Fish Hatchery, the country’s second-oldest federal hatchery. You’ll find the history in Leadville and Lake County to be a fascinating part of your trip.
