DESCRIPTION:Arkansas River Collaborative Watershed and GARNA –  Greater Arkansas River Nature Association  are excited to be hosting another educational events!\n\nThe tour will cross the burn area\, so participants should be prepared to get dirty! After the burn area tour\, participants will have the option of continuing the hike to the historic Interlaken Resort site or return to the trailhead. \n\n\nJoin us on a guided tour through the Interlaken Fire burn area to learn how we’re working with partners to protect the Twin Lakes ecosystem from post-fire erosion and flooding. DESCRIPTION:Join US Forest Service staff Leo Pareti and Joan Veilleux along with special guests Mike Brooks and Aaron Watson for 2 days of Dark Sky Programming. \nA Milky Way Summer Star Party in Twin Lakes! \nJoin us for mythical Greek stories\, a guided constellation tour and gaze through advanced telescopes to see deep sky objects! \nMeet at the Red Rooster Boating/Fishing Site on Hwy 82 at 8:30pm on Friday\, August 22nd and Saturday\, August 23rd \nPlease dress in warm layers\, wear sturdy shoes and bring a camp chair or blanket to sit on. If you have a headlamp with a red or low-color setting bring it too! \nSpecial Guests: \nMike Brooks – Visiting from the Gunnison Valley Observatory. Mike has been involved with GVO since its inception. He is an emeritus Western Colorado University Professor of Communication and has been an avid amateur astronomer for many years. He owes his lifelong interest in space to his uncle Jim\, an Apollo 11 manager. \nAaron Watson – Visiting from the International Dark Sky Community of Paonia Colorado. Aaron is a DarkSky Colorado Certification Specialist and leads the Colorado Dark Sky Certification Mentor Program. Residing in Paonia\, Aaron was instrumental in Paonia becoming a certified International Dark Sky Community\, and loves experiencing the natural night sky through observing and night photography. Aaron will be giving a special 20-30 minute talk at the beginning of the program each night. \nMeet at Red Rooster Boat Ramp in Twin Lakes
