DESCRIPTION:Located at the historic Leadville National Fish Hatchery\, the Fish Hatchery 5K features a scenic cross country style course that winds through subalpine forest near and around the Evergreen Lakes and lower Rock Creek area. The route consists of dirt road\, path and trail. \n7:00am – 8:00am: Race day registration and bib pickup at the Leadville National Fish Hatchery\n8:30am: Race Starts \nProceeds benefit Leadville youth athletics and recreation (Children’s Fishing Day\, Nordic team\, etc). \nAwards will be given to the top male and female finishers in each of the following age groups: 13-19\, 20-29\, 30-39\, 40-49\, 50-59\, 60-69\, 70+.  Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in the 12 and under age group. Group training runs — both day and night — will familiarize you with key sections of the course\, and discussion sessions with race veterans will help you get the most out of your race experience. Come spend some quality time with us and get to know your fellow racers. Our training camp is an experience you will carry with you forever. We like to think of it as a long weekend of good food\, good running and good friends.

SUMMARY:Leadville Trail Marathon & Heavy Half
DESCRIPTION:Simply put\, the nation’s toughest marathon. The Life Time Leadville Trail Marathon and Heavy Half presented by La Sportiva takes trail runners through the historic mining district’s challenging trails to the highest point of any Leadville Race Series event: Mosquito Pass (13\,185 feet). As you take on the baddest trails and thinnest air in all of endurance racing\, you’ll need all the Grit\, Guts and Determination you can muster. \nThe Leadville Trail Marathon is 26.4 miles of out-and-back dirt roads and single track that takes you through the historic mining district on the east side of Leadville. The Heavy Half consists of 15.46 miles along the same path as the marathon minus the Ball Mountain section. The course is primarily on old mining roads and trails\, topping out at 13\,185 feet at Mosquito Pass. This is the HIGHEST continuous pass in the country and the highest trail Marathon in the USA! There is a chance you’ll see snow on the course. The courses will be well marked with fluorescent pink-and-black striped ribbon and flour arrows on the ground.
