Leadville BBQ & Brew Festival
Friday & Saturday, June 21-22, 2019
The Leadville/Lake County Chamber of Commerce is excited to host a family-friendly, fun-filled weekend of tasting fresh BBQ prepared by some of the country’s best pitmasters, sipping fine local micro brews, and listening to live music. A car show and performances at the Tabor Opera House are all part of the two-day festival in this historic Colorado mountain town. Admission to the festival is free, with tickets available for purchase for food and drinks. Stay the night, and make a weekend of it!
BBQ and Brew
There’s mouthwatering BBQ in this Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) sanctioned event, which is also a cup event for the Rocky Mountain BBQ Association. Pit masters will cook chicken, pork ribs, pork, and brisket and compete for $10,152 in prizes—one dollar for each foot of Leadville’s elevation! Taste a BBQ you especially like? Give that chef a vote for the People’s Choice Award! In addition to barbeque, the event celebrates regional craft beer, including Colorado microbrews from Leadville’s own Periodic Brewing.
Families will enjoy a kids’ zone with carnival games and prizes and a kids’ BBQ cookoff.
The festival kicks off with the National Anthem on the stage at the north end of Harrison Avenue, then the BBQ competition heats up.
The music and good eatin’ resume!
Food sales end, and the awards ceremony begins.
Want to stay for the weekend? There’s plenty of hiking, fishing, biking, 4-wheeling, and camping available. Find a comfortable place to stay that fits your style, and explore the surrounding mountains however you like best! Find other events happening near this festival.
