Leadville Boom Days, which takes place the first weekend in August, is a three-day celebration of this mining town’s 1880s gold and silver rush heritage.
Burro-and-runner teams race through the mountains, miners crack rock by hand, a parade rolls down the avenue for nearly an hour, wild West gunfights break out, and ladies and gentlemen in Victorian costumes roam the crowd.
Motorcycle games, a car show, a rod and gun show, two nights of Boom Days dances, and Cowboy Church are part of the festivites. Also on tap are live music, a pie-eating contest and egg toss, live music, pancake breakfasts, and a food and craft fair with more than 100 vendors.
The 68th annual Boom Days festival, a Local Legacy Event, takes place Aug. 3-5, 2018. Join us!
