The Ski with a Ranger program will take place at Ski Cooper every Friday morning January through March, meeting at the bottom of the10th Mountain Double chairlift at 11:00 AM.
The program will last approximately one hour.We ask that all participants be comfortable with intermediate runs,specifically Trails End and Homestake. We will also be using beginner runs. Topics include: Identifying animal tracks in the snow and discussing the wildlife that can be found at Ski Cooper; how to identify the different tree species found at Ski Cooper; a brief history of the 10th Mountain Division and how that relates to Ski Cooper; the history of the area’s indigenous peoples, the mountain peaks and other physical features visible from Cooper on a sunny day; the Continental Divide – what it is and where it runs; what a National Forest is and the relationship between the Forest Service and Ski Cooper; and water projects in the local area that bring water from the west side of the Divide to the more populous east side.
