Leadville, Colorado & Southern Railroad
Ride the Leadville scenic train, and step back in time to when mining and railroading were a large part of Leadville’s economy. This trip takes you high into an alpine environment with spectacular views of Colorado’s highest peaks, wildflowers, and sometimes even wildlife.
Old Rail Route High into the Wilderness
Journey from Leadville’s depot, built in 1896, to the Continental Divide behind a 1955 diesel engine. You’ll follow one of the first rail routes to Colorado’s mining district in the silver rush days, the old Denver, South Park & Pacific and Colorado & Southern line.
This special trip is full of humorous narratives about Leadville’s colorful past, as well as breathtaking panoramas across the Arkansas River Valley, seen from open-air train cars.
For more adventure, reserve a spot in the engine or caboose, or combine your ride with white-water rafting or ziplining. Or buy a ticket on a BBQ, wildflower, or fall colors special ride.
