Mineral Belt Trail

  • Dutch Henry Parking Leadville, CO 80461

The Mineral Belt Trail is a scenic and historic recreational trail that spans approximately 11.6 miles through the heart of Leadville. This high-altitude trail, situated at over 10,000 feet above sea level, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and showcases the area’s rich mining history with interpretive signs and displays along the route.

The Mineral Belt Trail was born from a desire to preserve Leadville’s mining heritage. This historic town, once known as “Colorado’s Silver City,” thrived during the late 19th century. In 1993, the community rallied to create a multi-use, non-motorized trail as a way to safeguard this unique heritage.

On Leadville’s famous Mineral Belt Trail, you can see the tops of the towering Sawatch mountains and remnants of 1880s silver mines, all on a paved, 11.6 mile loop around town. It’s a great trail for a family biking trip! Find local bike rentals!

This summer and fall, come hike, bike, or run this scenic trail. The route is also accessible under the Americans with Disabilities Act. With numerous trailheads around town to let you choose your distance, the Mineral Belt Trail is perfect for people of all ages and ability levels. Class I and II eBikes are permitted.

The starting mile marker can be found south of town at the Dutch Henry parking area off Hwy 24. Round metal mile markers can be found in a clockwise order along the route.
