The developed campgrounds in the San Isabel Forest are managed through Recreation.gov, near some of Colorado’s highest mountain peaks along the Continental Divide. This forest draws crowds of all types, from fisherman to horseback riders, from family reunion groups to small backpacking duos, from ATV riders to downhill mountain bikers. In this large, diverse forest, you can find and enjoy almost any recreational activity. Campgrounds are on United States Forest Service (USFS) property.
Please check current fire restrictions.
Reservation camping can be booked from 6 months ahead to 5 days ahead at Recreation.gov or 877-444-6777. Less than 5 days ahead is first come/first serve only. Reservations cannot be made through the local ranger district.
Campgrounds are open seasonally from late May to early-mid September depending on the campground (check Recreation.gov for dates). Dexter Point in Twin Lakes is open year round for first come, first serve off-season camping with both trailer and tent sites. Off-season camping is at no cost but there are no amenities available (bathrooms are closed, no garbage disposal available). Off-season camping is strictly pack it in, pack it out.
Developed campgrounds offer tent sites, tables, firepits, pit toilet restrooms and garbage bins. Not all campgrounds have access to potable water, please plan to bring your own water. Click here to view information about local water, dump station and trash/recycling access.
