12 Tableclothes exhibit opening at The Healy House Museum
Join us on Saturday, September 12 for the opening of 12 Tablecloths Leadville!
This is the fourth and final chapter in the groundbreaking series of installations by renowned artist Chloé Duplessis. 12 Tablecloths is a reimagined offering that honors the extraordinary contributions of Black women and the significance of domestic service in Leadville and across the American West during the silver and gold rush era of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The artist talk will begin at noon, followed by exhibition opening and reception. Please RSVP in advance.
In-person ASL interpretation will be available onsite.
Food & Drink – Catering by The SoupHug and High Mountain Pies will be available before and after the artist talk, or feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks to enjoy during the presentation.
Garden & Weather – The artist talk will take place in the garden (weather permitting), so make sure to dress accordingly.
Garden chairs and benches will be available, or visitors are welcome to bring their own camp chairs or blankets.
About the Artist
Chloé Duplessis is a legally blind artist, curator, and historian committed to creating work that centers equity, accessibility, and healing. In doing so, she seeks to center the importance of shared history and erode the social constructs that oppress people of color and those navigating disability.
With over twenty years of experience in intercultural engagement, arts administration, and advocacy, she has traveled to nine countries and 24 states in support of her work. She earned a bachelor’s degree in cultural studies from The University of New Orleans, and studied art and history at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic.
Chloé is the creator of Denver’s first accessible “I VOTED” sticker and co-creator of the noted Holding Hope mural located in downtown Denver. She is also the 2023 recipient of Denver Mayor’s Award for Excellence in Arts and Culture in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Chloé is the founder of Duplessis Art, an arts studio and consultancy based in Denver, Colorado.
