6:00 PM – 7:00 PM: Check-In and Pre-Show Social
Location: Moe’s BBQ, 123 Harrison Ave, Leadville
Follow the Footsteps Epic Adventures introduces the theme “Adventure begins with One Step…”, sharing how adaptive equipment enables outdoor fun for all. Sign up for Saturday’s tours and meet guides. Cost:  Free with comedy ticket; food/drinks extra.

7:15 PM – 8:15 PM: Comedy Show with Collin Moulton
Location: Moe’s BBQ, 123 Harrison Ave, Leadville
Details: Join us for an unforgettable evening of laughter with family-friendly comedian Collin Moulton as he kicks off the Leadville Hike and Bike Days. This outdoor event, part of our fundraiser for Follow the Footsteps Epic Adventures, embodies our theme, “Adventure begins with One Step…”, bringing the community together under the Leadville stars to support adaptive equipment for people with disabilities. Known for his high-energy, relatable humor, Collin has performed at renowned venues like the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, Cobb’s Comedy Club in San Francisco, and festivals across the U.S., delighting audiences of all ages with clean, clever comedy. This is a rain-or-shine event ensures fun for everyone, with no refunds due to weather, so bring your layers and sense of adventure!

Saturday, June 21, 2025 Hike and Bike Adventure Day

9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Tour Check-In 

Location: Moe’s BBQ, 123 Harrison Ave
Details: Check in for free tours, Presented by The Colorado eBike ShopFollow the Footsteps Epic Adventures welcomes all, emphasizing “Adventure begins with One Step…” and how free tours showcase easy outdoor recreation. Guides brief groups on high-altitude safety, trail etiquette, and mobility for all. Limited e-bikes available (first-come, first-served via The Colorado eBike Shop); participants must bring their own equipment (bikes, helmets, hiking gear). Gratuities for guides appreciated. Groups prep to depart. Cost: Free tours; gratuities encouraged; breakfast separate. Gear: Bring own e-bike/standard bike, helmet, hiking shoes, daypack, water (2–3L), sunscreen, layers (June: 60–70°Fday, 30–40°Fnight).

10:00 AM: Tour Departures

Location: Groups depart Moe’s BBQ together (shuttle, carpool, or short ride to trailheads).
Details: Four free guided tours, led by Follow the Footsteps Epic Adventures with The Colorado eBike Shop support, designed to show how simple and fun casual recreation can be. Limited e-bikes provided; bring your own equipment. Tours regroup at Moe’s for a rally. Durations reflect trail lengths and group pacing at altitude. Gratuities for guides greatly appreciated.

Tour 1: E-Bike the Mineral Belt Trail

Distance: 12 miles (full paved loop)
Details: Ride the scenic, accessible Mineral Belt Trail around Leadville, with views of Mount Elbert and historic mines. E-bikes (limited available) or personal bikes make it easy for all levels, showing casual fun in action. Stops for photos and mining history.
Guide: The Colorado eBike Shop team
Duration: 2.5–3 hours (10:00 AM – 1:00 PM).
Gear: Bring own bike/e-bike, helmet, comfy clothes.
Post-Tour: Ride back to Moe’s via trail’s downtown access.

Tour 2: Hike and Bike Turquoise Lake

Distance: 6–8 miles total (4–5 miles biking + 2–3 miles hiking, out-and-back, adjustable)

Details: Led by expert hiker McLain Saba, this moderate hike-and-bike adventure starts with biking along Turquoise Lake’s accessible roads (limited e-bikes or bring own), followed by a hike on the Turquoise Lake Trail’s north shore. Enjoy stunning lake and Mount Massive views at a relaxed pace. Saba shares ecology and tips for easy recreation, proving one step (or pedal) leads to inclusive fun. Moderate terrain; ideal for all abilities.
Duration: 3.5–4 hours (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM)
Gear: Bring own bike/e-bike, helmet, hiking shoes, daypack, water, snacks, poles (optional).

Post-Tour: Group bike to Moe’s from trailheadTour 3: E-Bike Tour of Trail of the Silver Kings

Distance: 10–12 miles (loop, dirt roads/trails)
Details: Explore the East Side Mining District’s “Trail of the Silver Kings,” passing historic mines like Little Ellen. E-bikes (limited available) or personal e-bikes ease climbs, making casual riding fun for all. Guides share silver boom history with a light vibe.
Guide: Follow the Footsteps Epic Adventures biking lead.
Duration: 3–3.5 hours (10:00 AM – 1:30 PM).
Gear: Bring own bike/e-bike, helmet, gloves, hydration pack.
Post-Tour: Group ride to Moe’s.

Tour 4: E-Bike/Hike to Lake Isabelle

Distance: 8 miles biking + 2–3 miles hiking round-trip
Details: A dual-sport adventure: bike (e-bikes limited or bring own) on forest roads to a trailhead, then hike to Lake Isabelle’s alpine lake. Moderate hike with flexible pacing, showing how one step sparks epic, casual fun.

Duration: 4–4.5 hours (10:00 AM – 2:30 PM).
Gear: Bring own bike/e-bike, helmet, hiking shoes, layers, water, lunch.
Post-Tour: Group bike to Moe’s.

 

11:00 AM – WALKING FAMILY SCAVENGER HUNT 

Location: Moe’s BBQ, 614 Harrison Ave, Leadville, CO 80461

Details: Rally your family for an exciting scavenger hunt through downtown Leadville, America’s highest incorporated city at 10,152 feet! Kicking off at Moe’s BBQ, you’ll wander the historic heart of this Victorian mining town, chasing clues to uncover tales of gold rushes and larger-than-life figures. With 8 stops along Harrison Avenue’s charming corridor, your crew will tackle fun tasks—like snapping silly photos, counting windows, or inventing Wild West stories—while exploring iconic landmarks. This outdoor adventure blends history, teamwork, and Rocky Mountain magic, with breathtaking views of snow-dusted peaks. Perfect for kids and adults, the stroller-friendly route is designed to ignite curiosity in Leadville’s vibrant past.
Cost: Free

1:00 PM – 3:30 PM: Rally Back at Moe’s BBQ – Celebration of Mobility

Location: Moe’s BBQ, 123 Harrison Ave
Details: Tours return staggered (1:00 PM–2:30 PM). Enjoy a festive lunch social with Moe’s BBQ menu (brisket, vegan options, $10–$20), drinks, and live music (local acoustic, TBD). Follow the Footsteps Epic Adventures celebrates “Adventure begins with One Step…”, sharing how free tours inspire mobility and how funds enable adaptive equipment. Tour photos on display. Family-friendly with kids’ games.
Cost: Food/drinks separate; no entry fee.
Note: Donation jar for adaptive equipment fund.

3:00 PM – 4:30 PM: Welcome to Leadville by Lamplight Tours! (Ghost Tour)

Location: Meet at Moe’s BBQ, 123 Harrison Ave; tour through downtown Leadville
Details: Join tour guide and historian Rhone Pretti for a free, 90-minute Welcome to Leadville by Lamplight Tours! ghost walk, resurrecting Leadville’s unruly past. Explore haunted spots like the Tabor Opera House and old saloons, hearing tales of miners, outlaws, and spirits that linger in this silver boomtown. This casual, accessible tour promotes mobility and fun, showing how one step into history sparks adventure for all. Limited to 20 participants; pre-register at Moe’s. Bring your own walking shoes; gratuities for Rhone appreciated.
Cost: Free; gratuities encouraged.

Location: Meet at Moe’s BBQ, 123 Harrison Ave

Details: Join historian Rhone Pretti for a free, 90-minute sunset tour of Leadville’s 147-acre Evergreen Cemetery, a fitting cap to “Adventure begins with One Step…”. Hear vivid stories of the boomtown’s pioneers, miners, and restless spirits, like those buried in Paupers Field, as the fading light casts an eerie glow. This accessible, casual walk promotes inclusive recreation, showing history’s fun for all. Limited to 20 participants; pre-register at Moe’s. Bring your own walking shoes; gratuities for Rhone appreciated.
