Personal flotation devices are required for all boaters (including paddleboarders). Cold alpine water can rapidly reduce muscle function and reaction time, making it difficult to self-rescue even for strong swimmers. For this reason, it is strongly recommended that flotation devices be worn at all times while on the water, not just carried onboard.
