Celebrate Labor Day In Leadville & Twin Lakes!

August 11, 2019

Take a Labor Day getaway to Leadville and Twin Lakes, Colorado! Here are some ideas of ways to spend a fun-filled holiday weekend.

THINGS TO DO

Celebrate the lakes. Eke out another weekend of summer on big blue Twin Lakes and Turquoise Lake. Float in a boatfish from the shore, walk or relax on the beach, or rent a kayak, canoe, or standup paddleboard. Or reserve a seat on the narrated Twin Lakes Interlaken Boat Tours for a ride across the glittering waters to the historic resort of Interlaken.

Ride the scenic train. Hop aboard the Leadville, Colorado & Southern Railroad for a ride into the alpine wilderness, where wildlife and jaw-dropping views abound.

Hike or bike. Labor Day weekend is a fine time to be out on the trails, with sunny days and warm temperatures. Check out our many area trails.

Get a hole in one. Play some rounds at Mt. Massive Golf Course, the highest golf course in North America. Set at the base of 14,421′ Mt. Massive with views of the Arkansas River Valley and the Sawatch and Mosquito Ranges, it’s also one of the most scenic.

Go ziplining. The Top of the Rockies Zip-line lets you soar and swoop at elevations as high as 11,000′, with views of Colorado’s highest peaks. Time your zip just right, and you’ll fly right over the Leadville, Colorado & Southern Railroad. This is the only place in the world you can zip over a train!

Ride a horse. Take a horseback ride into the backcountry, with stunning views of pine forests, glacial lakes, and the surrounding peaks from above treeline.

Go off-roading. Hit the 4WD roads before the snow flies! Rent an ATV or explore the many back roads on your own.

Take a history tour. Guided history tours abound in the Cloud City and in nearby Twin Lakes. Learn about the area’s fascinating past and see the Victorian architecture and historic mining structures that remain today.

It’s the last weekend for the 2019 Passport to Leadville History, which gives you admission to all eight Leadville museums–plus 10% off the Leadville Colorado & Southern Railroad and 10% off the Twin Lakes Interlaken Boat Tours. Come early and get a 10% discount on your stay at the historic Delaware Hotel, Sunday-Wednesday nights prior to Labor Day weekend.
