Hope Pass

From downtown Leadville, follow Highway 24 south for approximately 16 miles. Turn right (west) on Highway 82 toward Twin Lakes. Travel 10 miles from turn off, past the Twin Lakes Village, to the Willis Gulch Trailhead. Turn left (south) into the trailhead parking loop.

This difficult trail is the peak of the legendary Leadville Trail 100 running race. It is also a section of the Collegiate Peak West Trail used by Colorado and Continental Divide Trail hikers. The trail begins in shady forest with beaver ponds and mining structure remains. As you get out above treeline the out of this world views begin. Surrounded by 13,000 and 14,000 foot peaks
